1. Summary

SelectLingo translates selected English text into Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic, and Russian. The add-on does not create an account by default and does not sell personal data. To translate, the text you select is sent to a translation provider. That is the only webpage content transmitted, and only when you use the add-on.

2. Data stored on your device

These items stay in the browser (storage.local) until you clear storage or uninstall:

• Settings (trigger, languages, theme, engine)
• API keys you paste yourself (Azure / DeepL)
• Optional Pro license key and gateway URL
• The last 50 translation history items on this device

Required for the add-on to work: selected page text (websiteContent). Optional: a license key if you buy SelectLingo Pro. Card data is processed by Creem on Creem checkout pages, not inside the add-on.

4. Translation engines

Depending on settings, selected text may go to Google public translation endpoints, Microsoft / Azure Translator, DeepL (only if you provide a key), MyMemory, or the SelectLingo gateway (default https://selectlingo.crosskit.top). Each provider has its own privacy policy. Public engines are not a confidential channel. Do not select secrets, health records, or payment numbers if those must stay off third-party servers.

5. Payments

Pro is billed by Creem (Merchant of Record). If you open the pricing page, Creem processes email and payment details under Creem’s policy. SelectLingo receives subscription events needed to issue your license key.

6. Permissions

• storage — settings and local history
• contextMenus — translate on the context menu
• activeTab / content scripts — read the current selection and show the result card
• Host permissions — call the translation APIs listed in the manifest
• Optional host permissions — requested only if you set a custom gateway origin

A content script runs on pages so translation can start when you select text. The add-on does not scrape full pages for analytics.

7. What we do not do

• Sell or rent user data
• Use your selections to train a SelectLingo model
• Ship a third-party analytics SDK in the default add-on
• Collect precise location, contacts, or browsing history beyond the selection you ask to translate

8. Children

SelectLingo is not directed at children under 16.

9. Retention and deletion

Local settings and history are removed when you uninstall the add-on or clear its storage. Gateway license records are kept while a paid subscription is active and as needed for billing. To request deletion of gateway records, email wjianwei666@outlook.com.

10. International transfers

Translation providers and the SelectLingo gateway may process data outside your country. If you use the add-on from the EEA or UK, the legal basis is performing the translation you request and, for Pro, the contract of sale.

11. Changes

The date at the top of this page is updated when the policy changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
